PRAISING GOD WITH LIES

“Here I am, here I stand, my life is in your hands... I give myself away, so you can use me...”

“I give you my life. I give you my trust - Jesus. You are my God, You are enough - Jesus, Jesus... My heart is Yours, My heart is Yours, Take it all, take it all, My life in your hands”

“I love everything You are, That my heart, beats to the rhythm of Your heart... My life is yours and will be forever”

“In view of God's mercy, I offer my all... And take my life, let it be everything, all of me. Here I am, use me for Your glory. In everything I say and do, let my life honor You. Here I am living for Your glory”

Ok, let’s be honest here, we sing these but do we MEAN the words we sing? I mean really, if our life is really in God’s hands for Him to use; having given our life to Him as our God; our hearts beat with His, and He’s enough, then why does the church wallow in the same sin as the non-believer (never intending to repent but rather make excuses instead), and work to build more comforts for themselves while ignoring the lost? When I read the Bible, I see that those in His hands have a heart for those in need of food, clothes, company; and they especially have a heart for those in need of God. Yet the church remains behind stained glass windows, not seeking the lost but seeking to pull members from other churches for growth. We refuse to part with our venti mocha frappuccino, our movie night, sports events, expensive meals out, and all the other needless worldly pleasures that have no eternal value so that someone could have a morsel of food, a coat in winter, a Bible.

The truth is, the church, at least in America, has not really given their lives over to God. We want to have God, but we want to be able to keep the world with Him. We want to keep our comforts and pleasures and can rarely do more, in our lives, for God then a couple hours on Sunday and a couple bucks dropped in the plate. Meanwhile, we sing songs of complete and utter lies to God. And we think this honors Him?

The church has an emotionally charged service while singing emotionally charged songs specifically pick out to cause emotion and they claim the Spirit of God moved while singing lies to Him. My God, show us the errors of our ways, chastise us, and cause us to walk a life closer to your Son.

Stop bringing meaningless offerings!
Your incense is detestable to me
New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations —
I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.
14 Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals
I hate with all my being.
They have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I hide my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers,
I am not listening.
Your hands are full of blood!
16 Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight;
stop doing wrong.
17 Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.
18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the good things of the land;
20 but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
(Isaiah 1:13-20 NIV)

God has not changed.
