DO YOU TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY?

We’ve conditioned ourselves to hear sermons and not respond. Oh, we say good sermon, but we don’t respond with action. Sermons have become Christian entertainment - I often call church (as it is today) a sunday morning reality show. We go to church to “get our praise on” and hear a well-developed sermon and a convicting thought. We’ve become satisfied with the thought of being convicted, then apparently feel the job is done. Yet, Scripture tells us if we are hearing the Word and not doing something with it, we deceive ourselves.

Think about what it would look like if we actually took the Bible, and what Y’shua had to say, serious. In Luke 6, Y’shua says to “do good to those who hate you”. Think about someone who hates you, are you willing to go do something good for them? Will you do that? Before you continue, think about that serous answer, and be truthful - yes or no? Read More…

CHOOSE THE RIGHT GOAL

When I was 30, I came out of truck driving for a while. I applied for an order-selection position at a food distribution warehouse. Order-selection jobs are only for the young: 30 is typically too old. I bugged them every day until they brought me in for an interview. There’s no way they were going to interview a 30 year old truck driver for such a strenuous job, and they made sure to tell me that. Yet, I convinced them to hire me and told them I would be the best order-selector they had.

I was placed in the freezer department where I gathered together store orders, in temperatures as low as -20 degrees. The young man who trained me was wicked fast: the fastest in the department.

Once I was done with my training period, I immediately started my goal at becoming the fastest; and I set my eyes on the very man who trained me. Read More…

WHAT DO WE ALLOW TO DICTATE OUR TIME?

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. - Matthew 6:33

Many of you know that my job has me traveling out of town each week; yet, my wife must stay home. I have a set schedule with her: on the day I leave, I have lunch with her at around 9:45 AM, then talk with her a couple times on the phone. Each day after, I talk to her at around 9:45 AM, just after 2:00 PM, and at least once more before she goes to bed at around 8:30 PM. If we did not have this open line of communication, our relationship would start to fall apart. Read More…

SUMMING IT UP

I recently got into a discussion about why so many institutions focus on helping the poor in other countries verses America. In writing this, I’m not saying not to help people here in America, but I’m only answering the question stated.

People in America have the Word of God; yet, they refuse the knowledge. Even those in the church rather stick to their denominational theology rather than the true Word of God. So, most missionary schools train only for over seas missions, where people appreciate a Bible, want to read that Bible, and want to absorb the truths of that Bible.

In talking about poverty, we often use the words, “I’m broke” or “I’m poor”. Yet, we in America, are neither of these things. I’ve even seen homeless with cell phones, nice clothes, etc. Read More…
