BIBLICAL EXAMINATION OF LAODICEA PEOPLE? - PART 19/19

A Self-Examination so that we can come into a closer walk that God desires us to be at.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE probably drink and swear less than average, but besides that, they really are not very different from your typical unbeliever. They equate their partially sanitized lives with holiness, but they couldn't be more wrong. They dress in the same lustful manner as the world. They focus their desires on the things of the world. They devote their time to the things of world. In all truth, when seeing the looks and actions of both in the secular environment, it's extremely difficult to tell the difference between a lukewarm person and a person of the world.

Matthew 23:25-28
25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also. 27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. 28 Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

BIBLICAL EXAMINATION OF LAODICEA PEOPLE? - PART 18/19

A Self-Examination so that we can come into a closer walk that God desires us to be at.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE structure their lives so that they never have to live by faith. They don't have to trust God if something unexpected happens - they trust their savings account. They don't need God to help them - they have their retirement plan (and don't have faith in God if social security were to fail). They don't seek after a life that God would have them live - they have life planned. They don't depend on God on a daily basis - their refrigerators are full and, for the most part, they are in good health. The truth is, their lives wouldn't look much different if they suddenly stopped believing in God.

Luke 12:16-21
16 Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?' 18 So he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry." ' 20 But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?' 21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

BIBLICAL EXAMINATION OF LAODICEA PEOPLE? - PART 17/19

A Self-Examination so that we can come into a closer walk that God desires us to be at.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE feel secure because they go to church, made a profession of faith, "asked Jesus in their heart", were baptized, come from a Christian family, vote Republican, or live in America. God wants far more than these actions and beliefs in a country that has reached the level of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Matthew 7:21
21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

1 Woe to you who are at ease in Zion, And trust in Mount Samaria, Notable persons in the chief nation

SEX CRAVED KIDS

Why is sex becoming an issue at ages far younger than just 30 years ago?

Many parents put their trust into entertainment companies, like Disney, who portray themselves as child friendly. Yet, as in this picture from the movie “Little Mermaid” we see Disney putting sexually explicit pictures into “children’s” movies.

This is not a fluke, or someone’s imagination that it’s happening. In 1999, Disney recalled the movie “The Rescuers” because of a scene with TWO topless women in the background. These are cartoons, thus it can’t be an accident; because it must be drawn and colored to be in the film.

Disney movies are riddled with pictures of sexual organs, topless women, playboy pictures, erections, flashing, and the word “sex”; yet only ONE movie has been recalled for the issue - make sense?

With the popularity of TV as the “baby sitter”, more and more children, from the youngest of ages, are being constantly subjected to subliminal messages towards sex. Would we expect their actions to be any different?

BIBLICAL EXAMINATION OF LAODICEA PEOPLE? - PART 16/19

A Self-Examination so that we can come into a closer walk that God desires us to be at.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE want to play it safe. They are slaves to the god of control and refuse to go on a ledge for God. This focus on safe living keeps them from sacrificing and risking for God.

1 Timothy 6:17
17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

Matthew 10:28
28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

A Self-Examination so that we can come into a closer walk that God desires us to be at.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE only do what is necessary to keep themselves from feeling too guilty. They only want to do the bare minimum, to be "good enough" without too much being required of them. These are those who ask:
"How far can I go before it's considered a sin?"
"How much do I have to give?"
How much time should I spend praying and reading my Bible?" Read More…

BIBLICAL EXAMINATION OF LAODICEA PEOPLE? - PART 14/19

A Self-Examination so that we can come into a closer walk that God desires us to be at.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE are thankful for their luxuries and comforts, and rarely consider trying to give as much as possible to the poor. They are quick to point our, "Jesus never said money is the root of all evil, only that LOVE of money is". Many lukewarm people feel "called" to minister to the rich; by their actions we see that very few feel "called" to minister to the poor and imprisoned.

BIBLICAL EXAMINATION OF LAODICEA PEOPLE? - PART 13/19

A Self-Examination so that we can come into a closer walk that God desires us to be at.

LUKEWARM PEOPLE think about life on earth far more often that life in Heaven. They see this life as life, and often forget that we are just passing through (at least until life comes closer to it's end). Daily life is more focused on what they need to do each day, each week, watch month, and the things desired. Rarely, if ever, do their actions show that they consider the life to come.

Philippians 3:18-20
18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Colossians 3:2
2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

"If you read history, you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of they other world that they ahve become so ineffective in this"
