FASTING

A couple years ago I entered into a "fast" and after a couple days the Spirit showed me something within my "fasting". He told me I was not "fasting" in the full sense of the word. I continued on my life as any other day, I was only denying myself of food.

The purpose of a fast is to deny the flesh of a necessity or better yet, if one can deny the flesh of a luxury that takes time from God. Then, we take that time, which would have been utilized by that thing we are fasting, and we spend some quiet time with Him. So, we deny the flesh and feed the spirit. If we deny the flesh but do not feed the spirit we have not accomplished anything. As God told me, you might as well eat again if you are not going to spend time with me during this time.

We should enter into a fast on a periodical basis. It is good for our spirit

20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Matt 17:20-21 (KJV)

Many miss teach what Yeshua was saying here, they believe that it's the demon that is cast out by prayer and fasting. But, if this be true, then Yeshua unrighteously brought them to scorn in verse 17. What Yeshua is saying here is that the faith of a mustard seed; that little bitty itty grain of faith comes out only by fasting and prayer.

I would encourage those who want a closer walk with God to fast. In the times of Christ, there was not the distractions we have now, and they fasted food. Now, we have multiple distractions, and it is good for us to fast those and spend time with God.

God bless
