SALVATION BY SPRINGFIELD

There is a Biblical teaching going around my area, and maybe others, called "Be the Church". It's about how the church is NOT the building but the body (1 Cor 6:19). It's not about getting people in the church so the pastor can get them saved, its about we the people being the light of the world (Matt 5:4), being a witness to the world (2 Tim 1:8-9), we ALL are priest's (1 Peter 2:5) and are suppose to be building the Kingdom of God (Matt 25:14-30) through our love for one another (John 13:34-35) and helping those in need (Matt 25:31:46).

Yesterday, after church, I decided to take my wife and mother shooting. My mother had never shot a hand gun before so I did not want to go to the indoor range near the house. Honestly, with lack of experience in all matters of hand gun use and safety, I was afraid both her and I would be embarrassed by something she would say or do. You should know, it's situations like these that will build patients (Romans 12:12), and it will build faith in your God for your protection. After asking for prayer from my pastor friend, I drove her sixty miles to an outdoor range, in the middle of now where for privacy.

As we came down the long hill, on the gravel road in the middle of the mountains, I noticed a multitude of cars parked at the range. The booths were packed with people who were enjoying a day of shooting targets. So much for my idea of privacy.

After debating with my wife for a moment, a couple people left and there were some open spots. We drove 60 miles, we might as well squeeze off a few before heading back.

We grabbed the pistols and set up at a couple booths. I gave my mother a few tips and pointers about handling a gun; but you should have seen the people diving for the ground when see decided to spin with that Springfield XD-M 9mm in her hand. She was so excited when she fired off that pistol that she started dancing around, with that gun in her hand, like she was filled with the Holy Spirit. Three people, at the shooting range, got saved that Sunday; but I think it was mainly because they thought they were about to meet their maker.

I asked my pastor friend if that was a part of "Be the Church" and he said it probably was as she had better results than he did that morning. If all else fail's with traditional witnessing, granny can get people saved by Springfield.

Since we are talking about "Be the Church", which is to say we are Christians, which is Christ like, I must admit that, while some of this story is true, there are parts of this story that are fabricated for our enjoyment. Do you like that word, "fabricated". That's a term we use in religion to lighten the guilt, we would otherwise feel, for sinning with a lie (2 Tim 4:3-4). While I am required to confess and repent of this fabrication, I have not found anywhere in the Bible where I need to tell everyone which particular point was a fabrication. Therefore, I will leave it here, at your imagination, to decide which is true and which is a fabrication.

God Bless and have a great day.
